How do we get there from here?

An empty chair awaits you... Hungry?

Is this white enough?

So, have you ever seen something grow from the grass root level? Have you seen a ground swell? No, I'm not talking about grass or aquifers... I'm asking about a positive movement in culture. Have you experienced a revolution of such unobtainable proportions that it can't be measured by banker, scientist or a sociologist.

I'm guessing that this kind of paradigm-shift is found only once in a century. Maybe it skips a generation.

A grand awakening of biblical proportions, one that gets right to the heart of each of us - that's what I'm praying for: A renaissance of recreation in the righteous. A celebration of the death of tradition and stigma.

What's on my heart the last few days is a desire to see - oh wait- I feel an MLK speech coming on... I have a dream...

I woke up this morning and as my friend, Randy, says "Holy Cow, I'm white and all my friends are white."

So, I ask you: How do we do this? How do we get the melting pot to bring us together - heat? How do we get the fruit salad with variety and diversity - upset?

Bring on the heat. Bring on the upset. I'm ready to live the dream.

Tell me how...

I know you have at least one friend who isn't white... :-)

I do agree...we do need to start DOING to bridge this gap instead of just talking about the fact that it's there.

Praying for change and dreaming with you!

But heat can hurt...
upset isn't good, is it?
Fear is the real obstacle to true community.
My prayer is that we would see fear for what it trully is,...sin.
Unity should be the priority, not our comfort or wants.

Hey BG,
One good way to add friends of a different color/background/way of life is to move to a different country. Come over, we'll introduce you to some of our friends. Very few are white, and we have plenty of heat too. :)

Love you, man.

I would, but I'm too afraid. I've heard that indians scalp people and or bury people alive in the sandy desert, only to have their eyes pecked out by crows and vultures.

Even worse, I've had conversations with some indians (from Indianapolis) and they think that the Pacer is a good car... What's up with that?

I'd rather be comfortable and ignorant.

Interesting entry Brad....I have personally found that up here in Vancouver, BC, Canada the melding of "groups" has begun, the embracing of diversity is common....the bridges have been built and crossed many times over.

How you ask ~ by recognizing the blessings that each person brings into this world...by extending a hand, a smile, kind words or perhaps even an embrace.

And I have to agree with r.e.d. ~ fear is the real obstacle...instead of fearing differences we should embrace them and KNOW that each person who touches our life will enrich it in some way...perhaps not by their direct interaction, but in how that interaction makes us think.

Keep talking about it and embracing all people....extend your hand, your smile....and face fear...encourage others to do so...it is what we are intended to do.

~SMILE~ it is a universal language that will cross barriers...and will speak volumes! :)

Hope you are doing well!
